I use a tool, Directory Report, to print my directory contents
It can print many more file attributes and save its output to many file types
And there is no need to edit your registry – very dangerous

I installed this following your advice and it works great. I don’t understand how a firmware update could solve the clickiness of a hard drive? It doesn’t seem like something that a firmware update could cover (also I’d expect someone to have noticed the annoying clickiness before releasing to manufacture!).

Either way it’s a good thing and I can’t complain. I do a lot of musical recording with my E5400 and previously I’ve had to shut the laptop in the next room with the door closed when recording because my microphones pick up the awful clicking noise. Tried recording the other night and it was silent minus the fans, which aren’t much of a problem!

Hi Bob, many thanks for the post.

I noticed that Google has said that the feature was removed due to changes in Microsoft’s add-on policies (see article below)

However I cannot find reference to exactly what Google’s feature was doing that does not comply with these rules, all Google’s articles just point to this, do you have any more info on this?

As for the question would we move away from IE as a business probably not to be honest. Internet Explorer is very controllable from GPO’s within windows server. Supporting multiple browsers in a business can be very time consuming, and locking down proxy server options in chrome and Firefox can be troublesome.

Personally I do prefer Firefox, however as a Business I think IE is here to stay for a while.

It was Microsoft’s decision, not Google’s. Loaded Chrome today and it looks good and it has the familiar Google New Tab feature. Looks like Microsoft, not Google, is pushing people to Chrome.

Do you think this feature is important enough for you to move your users to Chrome or FireFox, away from IE? Some IT managers i know are looking into that…
